Valkey 7 on Heroku Key-Value Store deprecation

Change effective on 19 August 2026

10-5-2026 Update: We updated the deprecation schedule for Valkey 7.

You can’t create Valkey 7 KVS instances after after December 19, 2026 instead of October 19, 2026.
Forced upgrades on deprecated Valkey 7 KVS instances now start on January 19, 2027 instead of November 19, 2026.
End-of-life on deprecated Valkey 7 KVS instances is now February 19, 2027 instead of December 19, 2026.

This updated deprecation schedule doesn’t follow the standard version support policy for deprecating Key-Value Store instances.

Heroku is deprecating support for Valkey 7 on Heroku Key-Value Store. This deprecation is part of our documented version support policy. The end-of-life date is December 19, 2026.

Our schedule for deprecating all Valkey 7 instances is as follows:

August 19, 2026: We send a deprecation notification to users on Valkey 7 KVS instances.
December 19, 2026: You can’t create Valkey 7 KVS instances after this date.
January 19, 2027: Forced upgrades on deprecated Valkey 7 KVS instances start.
February 19, 2027: We start restricting access and deleting Valkey 7 KVS instances after this end-of-life date.

We urge you to upgrade your instance to the latest version as soon as possible.
